Biography
Shyam Raj is a music composer who has earned himself the recognition of being voted by CNN as 25 people that mattered the most in Singapore in 2009 for his work with Thambi K Seaow; A Singaporean comedy rock outfit which he composed songs and performed for.
Growing up with a diverse musical background , Shyam Raj started his musical journey by playing the Tabla, an Indian percussion instrument at age 7, learning under the guidance of teacher Sharafat Khan, and later moved on to learn the guitars where his passion for song writing bloomed into the journey of his music career.
As a performer, he gives nothing less than his heart and soul in his performances that has earned him a strong fan base, plenty of awards in competitions and media attention for the bands that he leads and writes originals for. Shyam Raj as a performer, has achieved his recognition in Singapore by performing in the biggest music festivals in Singapore namely Singfest, which had world renowned international acts such as Alicia Keys, Jason Mraz and the Pussy Cat Dolls, all performing for the same event.Shyam Raj also performed for the Florida Indie Music Festival which was held in Orlando in 2010.
As a jingle composer, he has written the music for the opening titles of Ilamay Connection, a show by Mediacorp Singapore which was aired on National television. His other works as a jingle composer comprise of Spring Singaporeʼs opening title for 'Get Singapore' , CapitaLand MUIS, among many others.
As a producer and a songwriter/guitarist, Shyam Raj had his originals receive airplay on local radio stations such as, Lush 99.5fm, Power 98, 98.7fm, RIA Radio and even on international Podcast stations such as Mesh Radio and Desi Radio . Both Lush 99.5 fm and Power 98fm also invited Shyam Raj for a 30 min slot, where they interviewed him for his work and invited him to play his originals live on air.
Having completed his Bachelors in Recording Arts with Middle Sex University, Shyam Raj has a strong sense of audio engineering knowledge as well as music production.
Shyam is currently an undergraduate at Full Sail University doing his Masters in Entertainment Business in Orlando, Florida and is currently supported by Gibson Guitars, a well-known brand from Nashville U.S.A.
